The War on Lies by Eneysah Davud PhD

The War on Lies – A Deprogramming Manual for Those Who Refuse to Stay Defeated
It's not a journal. It's a deprogramming manual.

Abuse is a form of brainwashing. It is a slow, methodical drilling of lies into your soul, repeated day after day.
"It's your fault."
"You're worthless."
"You deserved it."

The affirmation “I am innocent” is the truth. But asking someone to write it just once is like speaking the truth one time against a lifetime of lies. You need to use the abuser's own weapon against them: repetition.

This manual is your counter-programming. By writing each statement five times, you are overwriting their toxic code with undeniable truth. We call it the Power of Five:

  1. The First Time, You Fight Yourself: When a survivor writes “I am innocent” for the first time, their inner voice, conditioned by the abuser, screams “No, you’re not!” It feels like a lie.
  2. The Second Time, You Doubt: You write it again. The inner critic is still there, but maybe a tiny bit quieter. A sliver of doubt enters. “What if...?”
  3. The Third Time, It Becomes a Possibility: The physical act of writing starts to create a new neural pathway. The statement is no longer a foreign concept. It's becoming a possibility.
  4. The Fourth Time, It Starts to Feel True: The resistance weakens. The sheer repetition starts to feel more real than the old lies. The truth is sinking in below the level of conscious thought.
  5. The Fifth Time, It Becomes an Incantation: It is no longer just words on a page. It is a declaration. It is a prayer. It is a spell you are casting to reclaim your own mind. It starts to feel like a fundamental truth.

Inside, You Will Wield Truths Like These:

There’s no reason strong enough to justify the abuse of me.
I am not responsible for someone’s cruel behavior.
I was not weak or complicit in the abuse. I was fighting in an unequal war.
I do not care to defend my actions or choices to any person.
No one blames the rich man for the theft in his house. So why should I be blamed for the violence done to me?

Most common affirmations are the soft, saccharine kind — “I am enough,” “I attract abundance,” “Everything happens for a reason.” They belong to the pastel-Instagram school of thought.
In contrast, these are combat affirmations — forged in fire, built to help you reclaim your dignity and sovereignty.

The Potency of These Affirmations

Mechanism: Cognitive fortification and behavioral reprogramming.
Effect: Cumulative, structural, and survival-based. It's building a fortress, brick by heavy brick.
Scope: Their potency is in rewiring a human brain under attack. They are a shield against gaslighting, a weapon against self-blame, and a blueprint for survival. They are not "nice thoughts"; they are mental commands designed to overwrite toxic programming.
Limitation: They are slow. They are not dramatic. They are the grueling work of digging a trench while under fire.

This isn’t theory. It’s what rebuilding your mind feels like when you have no map and no mercy to spare.

Who This Journal Is For

Survivors who cannot afford therapy.
This journal offers structure and language to those who are walking through the aftermath of severe abuse without professional support.

Survivors who are unwilling—or unable—to open up.
For those whose trust in humanity has been shattered completely, therapy can feel impossible. The pain is often too dark to say out loud. Terrified of judgment, many hide their real words. Here, there is no one to judge. This journal offers validation and support, with ample space for you to release the darkest thoughts and secrets that surface.

Those preparing for therapy.
A person who works through these pages will walk into therapy better armed. They’ll already have the language and clarity to name their experience, making each session exponentially more effective.

Those already in therapy.
Therapy names the goal; this journal builds the muscle. A therapist might say, “You need to work on your self-worth.” The journal gives form to that work:
“A rich man’s wealth can attract thieves. My good qualities can attract abusers. Their urge to exploit me is not proof of my weakness, but of their bankruptcy.”
